Professional Photo Printing/ Fine Art Printing - Showcase
Works of Ming Lau
From capturing the image to framing it as an artistic piece, every step is part of the photography process and must be handled with precision. Large photographs displayed on walls for appreciation represent the ultimate form of photographic art, the emotional impact of viewing them cannot be replicated on a monitor.
Unsatisfied with the service providers back in the film era, I started to print my own photographs. Later, I also began framing my own works. It seems easy, every step presents challenges, but there is a great sense of accomplishment in taking complete control of photography while achieving the high standards that others failed to satisfy me.
One person cannot capture every moment & scenery that worth taking, I decided to craft photographic artworks for the others with my own high standards. That’s how Trail Studio was born.

Night Colors
At night, the city’s colors are often more vibrant than daytime. Red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, and purple, thanks to lightings of various purposes and hue illuminating the urban landscapes. This dazzling spectrum of colors is what draws me to photography. (Hahnemühle Bamboo & faux wood frame)

Time Has Changed
After the pandemic, once-familiar streets have become unrecognizable as shops have come and gone, reshaping the urban landscape. (Hahnemühle Photo Rag Bright White & aluminum frame)

The Star Ferry
In the age of efficiency and automation, Star Ferry still retains processes and traditions that involve manpower and skills. Although no one can be seen, every object in this scene reflects the interaction between human and machines, represents the people in the same boat. (Hahnemühle William Turner & faux wood frame)

The Mid-Levels
The alternation of Chinese and Western, new and old things in the Mid-Levels is an interesting and unique feature of Hong Kong. This fusion is particularly easy to notice when looking down hill from the slope. (Hahnemühle Photo Rag Pearl & aluminum frame)

Night view of Central (photogrpahed in 2006)
Although the old Central Pier clock tower has been preserved, it has yet to be restored, leaving us with only photographs as a window into its past. Preservation is not just about retaining objects but about safeguarding history. Old photographs has the power to reveal the relationship between bygone objects and the environment and culture of their time. (Harman by Hahnemühle Gloss Art Fibre & aluminum frame)

Blossom
I have no particular interest or inspiration in photographing flowers, but occasionally like vibrant flowers that are fresh but not vulgar for decoration. (Hahnemühle Photo Rag Pearl & faux wood frame)

Paperbark
It’s inconceivable that tall tree trunks can grow so straight. At first I planned to emphasize these straight lines using monotone, but I couldn’t bear to lose the autumnal vibe I felt during the shoot, so I opted for the current hybid toning. (Hahnemühle Photo Rag 188 & wood frame)

Rainy Night
Colourful lighting captures the vibrant spirit of the city. Rainy night, reflective pavements, and silhouette of pedestrians unafraid of wind and rain further amplify the liveliness, are "convergence of perfect timing, advantageous location, and harmonious people" to enhance the vibe. (Hahnemühle gallery-wrap fine art canvas)

Observing Culture and Art
By the end of the workday, I quietly gaze upon the cultural and artistic landmark, ponder how many people in this fast-paced city truly have the leisure to integrate cultural arts into their living? I appreciate both vibrant colors and black & white, perhaps I've a bit of "photographic Schizophrenia". When colors fail to stand out or create distractions, I tend to omit them - after all, photography is the art of subtraction. (Hahnemühle Photo Rag Pearl & aluminum frame)

Everyday life
Central is often perceived as a hub of Grade A office buildings, a financial center, and a bustling district, but it also has a quieter side. Many people work and live there quietly behind the scenes.
(Hahnemühle Photo Rag Pearl & aluminum frame)

Neon signs
Neon signs were once a defining feature of the Pearl of the Orient. Their vivid colors yet soft, warm glow brought a sense of safety to the streets. Crafting neon signs is an art & maintenance cost isn't low. Preserving them relies on commitment to tradition and craftsmanship. (Hahnemühle Fine Art Baryta & aluminum frame)

Red
I discovered this old wooden door in a rather unremarkable village house. One of the great joys of photography is being able to remove the distractions, and share the discovered beauty with other people. (Hahnemühle Photo Rag Bright White & faux wood frame)

Departure
On a stormy evening, a departing train fades into the distance from the empty platform - uncertain whether the destination is hazy or bright. The intense red glow reveals the uncertainty that lies ahead. In this era of migration, many close friends, relatives and valued customers have moved abroad. Wishing you all the best. (Hahnemühle Fine Art Baryta & faux wood frame)

Dusk
When I was young, the internet didn't exist and it was hard to gain photography knowledge, I loved collecting and referencing postcards. Although their small size, print quality, and mainstream subjects no longer satisfy me early on, I still smile to myself when taking landscape shots like these and say, "Looks like a postcard :p." (Hahnemühle Photo Gloss Baryta 320 & aluminum frame)
